David Cale (ImagesOfTheJourney) > I am passionate about wondering, wandering and story telling and in the past seven years I have traveled hundreds of thousands of kilometres in the US, Canada, Israel, Cuba, France, Belgium, Italy,Switzerland, Greece, Australia, New zealand,Bali Indonesia, Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi (Bridge on the River Kwai) and Phuket (Tsunami) Thailand, Vietnam and Egypt in pursuit of stories and photographs.

I am particularly interested in human conflict and Canadian history and thus have made extensive visits to World War battle sites in Europe, including Ortona Italy, Vimy Ridge and Normandy and Dieppe in France and in Asia.
David Cale (ImagesOfTheJourney) > Canadian Vimy Memorial

Reconciliation - I thought of the memorials found in every French village, not for those fallen in this war
but those who were "Mort pour la France" in the First World War. That and the Treaty of Versailles
whose terms both humiliated and bankrupted the fledgling democracy of the German Wiemar republic thus paving the way for National Socialism, Hitler and World War II.

I remembered my feelings earlier in this trip, as I had stood between the white limestone spires of the Vimy Ridge Memorial, honouring the sixty-six thousand Canadians who perished in the First World War...

The memorial, reputed to be the most beautiful in all of France, rises from the crest Hill 145, the highest point of the Ridge.

This is sunrise at the Mussellman's bed and breakfast (now sadly closed) justs outside of the city of Hunstville and not far from Algonquin Prinvincial Park. Algonquin is the crown jewel in Ontario's Park system.

I am standing (shivering on my skis) about 200 m from the main gondola lift of Mont. Tremblant Ski Resort about 150 km North of Montreal Quebec. The temperature is about -35C and the air is filled with ice crystal fog. You can just make out the ski run called Le Edge starting at the top of the peak on the left.
